Travelling with Thomas gratefully acknowledges the support of Arts Council England and the English Folk Song and Dance Society in the development of this exciting project that brings together traditional storytelling and ancient folklore with new music and beautiful artwork to explore the tale of Thomas the Rhymer.

An ancient tale receives a new twist as we develop a folk musical to resonate in today's world of uncertain truths, fake news and displaced people, yet remain rooted in the folklore traditions from which the tales of Thomas sprang over 700 years ago.

Transported to Elf Land, Thomas is helped, hindered and challenged as he tries to find his way home, bringing a gift and a burden, in this tale of love, truth and time. But who can you trust when you're lost in a world of mischief and mythical folk?

Share the journey with Laurel Swift (composer) and Lizzie Watts (designer) as they workshop a new folk musical of Thomas in a year long collaborative project.

Travelling with Thomas presents beautiful new songs, music and artwork in a series of intimate showcase gigs, featuring some of the finest performers on the scene.

Each showcase offers an new insight into the creative process and invites the audience to enter Thomas' world and respond to the music, imagery and ideas. Join us for a unique event that can be enjoyed on its own or as part of the series.

Have a look at our videos page for interviews with the composer and musicians,

and an insight into the showcases from the audience's point of view.

We are also running creative workshop/retreat weekends in January and March 2018 teaching musical accompaniment, printmaking and storytelling.
